Downside Nursery is a private, independent day-care nursery school with a reputation for high quality pre-school care and education. The most recent Ofsted inspection assessed the quality and standards of Downside as 'outstanding'. It continues to be the first choice amongst many parents (see Parents’ Views), for this very important first step in children's educational and social development.

The nursery is located in the heart of the village of Downside on the outskirts of Cobham, (see location) and occupies the original village school which was built in 1867 and has half an acre of secure grounds. The nursery is owned and led by a qualified teacher and senior staff all hold relevant early years childcare qualifications. We have good links with the neighbouring St Matthews’ Primary School, as well as the other state and independent schools in the area.

Downside provides a warm and friendly environment where each child is valued as an individual and their development is encouraged through a combination of creative activity, play and structured learning which is guided by expert, committed and caring staff.

In all, the experiences we provide for the children equip them as enquiring, confident and socially integrated young people well prepared for the next stage of their education.
